Freakshow is a supergroup headed up by Ronnie Borchert (aka Markus Allen Christopher), the chief of an impressive Arduous Rock band referred to as M!SS CRAZY. Freakshow initially began out with Borchert, Jeff LaBar (Cinderella guitarist), Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot drummer), and Tony Franklin (bassist from The Agency and lots of others) and launched their self-titled debut the higher a part of a decade in the past. Their debut, though receiving a collective optimistic crucial reception, by no means acquired the traction it deserved, and Freakshow as a supergroup acquired tucked away in Arduous Rock limbo, particularly after the loss of life of Frankie Banali.
However lo and behold, 2023 brings the resurrection of Freakshow with a complete new supergroup line-up accompanying Borchert. Particularly, Quiet Riot guitarist Carlos Cavazo, Steel Church drummer Stet Howland, and Badlands bassist Greg Chaisson. On the floor, there appears to be all the proper elements essential to make a big stamp on the Arduous Rock neighborhood … extra particularly distinctive expertise, confirmed expertise, and ample time to regroup (pun meant).
Chopping to the chase, Borchert and his Freakshow cohorts have launched their sophomore effort entitled So Shall It Be. Fairly frankly, regardless of a heat storage band sound, the album comes up in need of what you’d count on from such superb and veteran expertise. On the optimistic aspect, there are some strong vocal harmonies and notable guitar work (take a look at “You Shine” and the instrumental “Full On Shred”), however there are actually no powerhouse riffs or sing-along choruses to get you hooked in or energize you. Disappointingly, what you get is quite a lot of so-so finish merchandise that aren’t combined notably effectively and supply little to the listener to warrant coming again after the primary spin.
Maybe if Freakshow’s present roster stays intact and so they have extra of a chance to “gel” collectively, then they’ll rightly make that deep footprint on the Arduous Rock neighborhood you’d count on to listen to. However sadly, that’s not taking place with the So Shall It Be launch.
